3/31/2009 Dr. Hammerle St. Louie Tails Best Veterinarian

by admin | 31st March 2009

I am very excited to announce that Dr. Marcy Hammerle, my favorite veterinarian in the world, has been voted “Best Vet” in the St. Louie Tails Pet Magazine. This is a reader’s choice award voted on by the St. Louis region and beyond. Dr. Marcy works hard for her clients and their owners.

The things that Dr. Marcy does in treating both sick and well animals at The Pet Doctor is only the tip of the iceberg, but that part was what got her the acclaims by the readers. Dr. Marcy does a tremendous amount of work for the pet rescue groups especially Heartland Humane Society. This work is done with a great deal of love for the pets and the work.

She has also doing a great deal of work for the veterinary community behind the scenes. She is an executive board member for the American Association of Human Animal Bond Veterinarians– http://www.aah-abv.org/Net/Home/Default.aspx . This group promotes the bond that owners have with their four legged friends and educates other veterinarians and veterinary students on how this bond can be highlighted in the veterinary community. She is also currently on a committee for the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association– http://www.mvma.us , our state society for veterinarians. She has also recently been chosen by the state committee to represent young veterinarians at a national meeting for the American Veterinary Medical Association– http://www.avma.org/ .

She has also spent personal time money to become trained in veterinary acupuncture, having to fly to Florida several times to attend the classes. She did this with my 5 month old son in tow. So this was definitely not a pleasure trip to Florida. Dr. Marcy also has started a pet hospice program in our clinic and she is about to start promoting it to the St. Louis region. This will deal with end of life decisions for our pets. Treating their pain and other ailments in their own home, where they feel most comfortable.

Dr. Marcy is also on the board for Sanford Brown veterinary technician program. She has also allowed The Pet Doctor to be used as a training facility for the technicians to get real world training.

In addition to the veterinary work, she has managed to have raised a beautiful 15 year old daughter and have two children born in the last three years.

If this wasn’t enough, she also has to keep up with a husband (me) on his crazy exploits.

I am sure there are things that I am leaving out, but this is a tremendous list for a veterinarian who is only 5 years out of school (go Mizzou– http://www.cvm.missouri.edu/ ). What will the next five years hold?

I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather. I can guarantee your furry pets are going to enjoy being outside.
